The Pitch
To "hook" learners we will begin this inquiry by engaging their observational skills.
Introductory Exercise 1: Students will participate in a walking tour of the school and surrounding community. They will be asked to document with digital tools, pencil and paper and drawings the elements of the environment that showcase green space.
Introductory Exercise 2: Students will re-group to share their evidence with peers. Students will create a visual map, using media of their choosing, to illustrate their findings.
Introductory Exercise 3: Following the initial collection of evidence from their walk, students will be presented with an Inquiry Project Task (IPT). The IPT outlines the over-arching theme and tasks for them to consider. The essential questions of the project are presented in this outline. Using their visual map from the walking tour, the facilitator with guide a whole-class discussion where learners will brainstorm how to approach the essential questions.
